What Mythic+ rating actually measures

Your rating is a season-wide summary of your best run in each dungeon in the current Mythic+ rotation. Each dungeon contributes a score based on the keystone level you completed and how far under or over the timer you finished. Add the dungeon scores together and you get the rating shown next to your name.

Because it is built from best runs, rating can only go up within a season. A depleted key or a bad pug never lowers the number, it simply does not improve it. When a new season starts the rating resets to zero and the climb begins again.

Why the number changes

Rating moves whenever a character beats their previous best in a dungeon. Timing a +12 when your best was a +11 adds points, and timing it faster than before adds a smaller bonus on top. Finishing over the timer still counts, but with a penalty that grows the longer the run took.

• Faster completion: a smaller bonus for finishing well under the timer
• Over the timer: reduced points, and none at all if the run took far too long
• New dungeon in rotation: an empty slot that adds a lot the first time it is filled

Reading the rating colors

Blizzard colors rating brackets so you can judge a score at a glance. MythicKey uses the same tiers on every profile, feed entry and tracked card, so a purple or orange score means the same thing here as it does in game. The thresholds shift slightly between seasons, but the order always runs from grey and green through blue, purple and orange to the top bracket.

Following rating over time

A single number tells you where someone is, not where they are going. MythicKey stores snapshots of every tracked character and turns the difference into activity: a climber entry when a friend gains rating, the exact run that caused it, and a weekly recap that ranks who improved most. That is the part a static lookup site cannot show you.
